Croatian Students Cross, for Sport News

Zagreb 2001. to 2011.

Traditional cross for students, which is organized by Croatian Athletic Federation together with Sports News Daily, has been recognized by the International Athletic Federation. It is also a state championship in running for students of elementary and high schools in Croatia, which is a host to 3 to 5 thousand participants. Sponsor of this event is the Ministry of sports, education and culture.



VII Congress of the Association of Honorary Consuls of Italy in the World (U.O.C.I.M.)

Zagreb 2010.

Honorable consuls who represent Italy in states throughout the world are joined in an association UOCIM and meet annually in one of the countries where Italy is represented. They have held their annual congress of 2010 in Zagreb in the hall of the city assembly, with the reception of mayor Milan Bandić in the city palace Dverce, at which was also present Franco Frattini, minister of foreign affairs.

Charity ball for project “Croatian House ” under the auspices of President Stjepan Mesić

Under the auspices of President Stjepan Mesić, Zagreb 2007.

Humanitarian auction of paintings was organised in hotel Regent Esplanade 16 under the auspices of Stjepan Mesić to raise funds for dr. Nela Sršen’s humanitarian organisation “Croatian House“, which helps patients from Croatia and the region who seek medical treatment at the Padua University hospital, who are usually paediatric patients for liver transplantation. Since dr. Nela Sršen is also an honorable consul of Croatia in the Veneto region, this ceremonial dinner was also attended by Croatian Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović along with the president of Veneto region, Giancarlo Galan.


Award “The Best Croatian Athlete” for Sport News

2001. -2011.

Sports News Daily from Zagreb has been organizing annual award «The Best Croatian Athlete» since 1952, and introducing from 1990, the award for the best sport team from Croatia. The decision is up to a comitee composed of Croatian sports journalists, and the ceremonial presentation of the awards is broadcasted live on Croatian national television in the presence of the highest state and sports officials.


Charity Gala Art Auction to Fight Breast Cancer

IWCZ, Zagreb, 2006

International Women’s club organized the prestigious event at the largest ball room in Zagreb.   Attendance was limited to 400 guests that enjoyed gala dinner and participated in the auction. Collected funds were donated to organizations that support efforts against breast cancer. Guests were entertained by famous Croatian musicians and famous Finnish opera diva Katherine Haataja.

Varaždin 2006.

One of Croatia’s best musicians delivered a concert at the main square in Varaždin, and he intended the entire income from that concert for dr. Nela Sršen’s humanitarian organisation „Croatian house“. The concert, whose reason was the end of the school year, was attended by more than 20 000 people.


Miss Sport

Miss Sport is elected every year by a jury of experts from 20 candidates, young and talented Croatian sportswomen who have achieved enviable results. The sportswoman who gets the most votes by presenting her personality, sports results and her style is being elected Miss Sport. This title launches the winner into the world of fashion and show business, like it has done to Dvina Meler and Stefany Hohnjec, who was elected at the ceremony at Varaždin thermal bath in 2004.


Spring Ball “Brave phone”

The great hall of the Sheraton hotel in Zagreb was completely full during humanitarian „Spring Ball“ on the occasion of the seventh birthday of „Family Radio“ at which funds were raised for further successful work of „Brave phone“, the only SOS line for abused and neglected children.


Award “The Best Football Player of Europe”


Award „The Best Football Player of Europe“ was repeatedly organised by the Sports News Daily. It is presented at the calendar year end, and the jury comprises six eminent European sports journalists and editors of respectable sports magazines in Europe. The best football player is chosen in a voting system similar to that in Formula-1, and the candidates are the most successful football players of that year.



Playboy Sailing Cup

Croatian Playboy office organised a sailing spectacle in Rovinj titled Playboy Cup, in which central and all national Playboy offices participated . All contending vessels were the same, each accomodating a beauty of the year from a national Playboy edition.
